absolutelyright, what makes you think that's not happening? Plenty of space-based Earth-observing satellites (I just looked at orbital images on another site, of the area of the cruise ship wreck), notthe least of which are for weather monitoring.

This potentially could affect cheaper, regular access to space, LEO and deeper. Yeah, that trumps North Korea, Pakistan, and all the other current events that will be only footnotes in a few centuries. Oh, and MSNBC does have more than one page...

David, neither one was trying to be predictive...I'm still waiting for that late 1990's human genetic engineering and enhancement ("Space Seed,' 'Star Trek II'), and manned missions to Saturn ('Tomorrow is Yesterday'), for example.

The existence of life elsewhere won't prove the existence of a deity(ies) one way or another...though it would be interesting to know if they observe such things themselves.

Perhaps civilizations tend to go from radio to something 'else' not very long after the discovery of radio, that we haven't discovered yet. (no, I don't pretend to know what it may be, though I have a few suspicions)
